We are busy raising funds to cover the cost of a new Lions International Eye Centre which is located at Korle Bu in Ghana - one of the largest teaching hospitals in West Africa. The eye centre helps people suffering with potentially blinding eye conditions. We reply on your support so that we can continue to improve sight services to the region. To deliver this project we are working in partnership with the Lions Clubs International Foundation and Moorfields Eye Charity.
We urgently need to raise £30,000 to help us complete the build and equip the Lions International Eye Centre. While the centre is up and running there is still some work to be done to ensure it is fully operational and functioning to high standards.
Already, up to 200 patients are being seen at the centre each day and many more will be cared for once the building is complete. It is set to become a centre of excellence in the provision of eye care services and ophthalmological surgical training. As soon as operating theatres are operational, we will start a training programme with the potential to train 32 ophthalmologists every year.
Donations will help fund medical equipment, to sponsor trainee ophthalmologists or contribute towards funds to help poorer patients access medicines and spectacles. Your support will enable us to bring real relief to people across the whole of the West Africa region.
