The Battle Against Blood Cancer

Lions International Blood Research AppealThe Battle Against Blood Cancer

With your support the Lions International Blood Research Appeal (LIBRA) currently aims to raise £100,000 for the Haematology Department at King’s College Hospital in London as part of its Tree of Life Campaign.

The funds raised through this major Lions project will ensure that the haematology team and its world renowned professors have the specialist equipment required to create and trial a new vaccine for Acute Myeloid Leukaemia- the first of its kind in the world. The equipment funded by LIBRA will also be used to develop new treatments for blood cancer patients in the UK and overseas.

Head of Haematology at King’s, Professor Ghulam Mufti said: “We urgently require the funding as it will allow us to initiate new cell and gene therapy trials that would otherwise not be possible. We are so grateful for the ongoing support we receive from LIBRA, the latest campaign to raise £100,000 will make our research plans a reality.” Successful treatments will benefit patients across the UK and overseas.
