Inspiring a Generation of Creative Thinkers

ROAR 2018Inspiring a Generation of Creative Thinkers

Roar 2018 is a schools idea competition created by Lions Clubs International and the ideas company 7billionideas. It aims to unlock the creative spirit in every child by giving them the time to imagine and develop ideas that could change the world!

In 2017 we  launched the initiative and 4,500 students took part in the competition from 30 schools across the South East. With your support we plan take the competition into even more schools across the UK, with a cost of £200 per school.

Last year 7billion ideas made a presentation to each participating school, who then ran internal class competitions. The winning group from each school who created the most inspirational, innovative idea then went on to compete with 19 other schools.

The final competition was held at the Millennium Seed Bank, Wakehurst Place, and was led by David Harkin, founder of 7billionideas. Awards were presented for the Best Poster – Billingshurst Primary School, Best Model – Stone Cross Primary School and Best Display Stall – Wisborough Green Primary School. The ingenuity and scope of the designs were remarkable and the winning idea is being described and published in a book and made available to purchase on Amazon.

Here's some of the great feedback we have received from participating schools so far:

"It was fantastic! The presenter was really enthusiastic and engaging for the children. The supporting PowerPoint was great and you could feel a buzz of excitement in the room with children eager to get started." Emma Kesper, Stone Cross School.

"We thought it was funny and inspiring and pitched at the right age group. David delivered it with great enthusiasm which transferred to the children." Amy Clarke, Framfield School

“It’s a fantastic opportunity for the schoolchildren to be involved. Such an excitement in the classroom as the children have been buzzing with ideas about activities they have been doing, loved sharing with one another and building their models and plans – a really successful activity.” Rebecca Hatrick, Billingshurst Primary School.

Please email David Skinner at if you would like your school to take part in ROAR.

With your support we plan take the competition into even more schools across the UK, enabling more young people to have the time to imagine and develop ideas. Please make a donation and help us to inspire ageneration of creative thinkers.
