Beds for Babichi

Beds For Babichi OrphansWe Are Half Way There

The Lions Belarus Trust is pleased to report that funds have been raised to cover the cost of 75 beds for the Babichi Orphanage in Gomel. The Trust is calling for further support to raise enough funds to help purchase another 75 beds – totalling 150 that are urgently required.

Here at Lions Giving, we continue to follow the story of the orphans at Babichi Boarding School, who have no-one but Lions to depend on to provide a dry safe environment within which they can live and work. Over the years, Lions have helped to fund vital repairs to their building and heating system, and now we are helping again – and need the support of the public to raise more funds.

The orphanage receives no government funding to furnish the children’s living quarters, and there is no parental contribution available for orphans. As a result, the furniture in these quarters is falling apart. For most of the beds, makeshift repairs made over the years are no longer adequate, and they are in the final days of their use. They desperately need replacing.

Due to the generosity of Lions so far, we have been able to send €15,000, and around half the beds they need are now being bought. Most sincere thanks go to all Lions Clubs which have so far made donations. Special thanks go to Hastings, Maidstone, Thanet and Farnham Clubs, all of which have sponsored whole accommodation blocks within the orphanage, and to Uckfield Lions Club for a donation of £1,100.

So once again, for the sake of the unfortunate and desperate orphans at Babichi, we ask for donations, no matter how small or large. Please click HERE to donate today.
