ellenor Hospice Receives Funding Boost from Lions£6,000 Will cover the cost of vital equipment

Swanley and North Downs Lions Club recently presented ellenor Hospice with £6,000 of funding to cover the cost of medical equipment used to control pain and symptoms such as sickness. The well-known Hospice provides care and support for families facing terminal illness in Kent and Bexley. About 2,000 families are supported by the Hospice each year.

Swanley and North Downs Lions raised the funds through a number of activities, including Bike Around Brands 2015, carol collections and a quiz night. Club Welfare Chairman Steve Gray presented a cheque to the Hospice Fundraising Chairman Bryan Harris and ellenor Inpatient Ward Manager Angela Cooke.
The money has been used to buy three syringe pumps which administer a small amount of medication frequently during a 24-hour period, avoiding the need for regular injections while helping to keep constant medicine levels in the bloodstream.
