140 seniors, who all live alone, were treated by Tonbridge Lions Club to afternoon tea and entertainment at Tonbridge Baptist Church on Saturday 20th February 2016. The guests were transported to and from the venue where they enjoyed entertainment provided by the Lions members and their ladies.

Meanwhile, the oldest guest Gladys Tuxford aged 100, and to be 101 in May, received the attention of the Mayor of Tonbridge, Councillor Owen Baldock, and Lion President James Lark.

During the interval tea, sandwiches and cakes, made by the Lions members ladies, were served. The Mayor gave a vote of thanks to the Lions on behalf of the guests.

Lion Dixon Hawkins, Chairman of the organising committee, said: “It was a pleasure to see so many people enjoying themselves and I am delighted the afternoon went to plan.”
